The estate and coupe versions came in 2000, whilst the long awaited M3 didn't come until 2001. An 'in between' version was launched late in the E46's lifecycle called the CS. It featured some CSL parts and is regarded by some as the best all round E46.

Raising the numbers from 245 hp and 540 Nm of torque, the sport SUV now carries 275 hp and 620 Nm of torque. Hamann was able to accomplish this by tuning the Motronic engine management system to deliver more fuel and air. Now the exterior styling is what really enhanced the look of the BMW 5-Series GT.
